When Dr Alan Mendoza asks him about BDS (the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against the State of Israel) Ben Shapiro interestingly notes that many people blame Israel for crimes of which they are not guilty merely because they hold the view that those in the conflict who are the most oppressed and impoverished (in this case the Palestinians) must be the victims of maltreatment at the hands of the more successful and flourishing State of Israel. In other words, the belief that in all scenarios, the truth is on the side of those that appear to have it worse. This viewpoint, says Shapiro, it “means you’re going to end up siding with a lot of the worst people on earth, because a lot of the worst people on earth are poor and living in dire circumstances specifically because of the philosophies they impose and the choices that they make.” (Find this at minute 18:42 in the video).
