In this video, Ollie Anisfeld interviews Rabbi David Fohrman of AlephBeta and asks him whether or not the notion of the God of the Old Testament being a vengeful and punishing God is correct or not. Rabbi Fohrman responds by explaining that before one answers such questions, one has to accept that one doesn’t ‘understand it all know, and I don’t have an expectation to understand it all in a year from now’ (minute 1:42). He does however explain that so often people misunderstand the intention of the Bible in portraying God in a seemingly vengeful way, exploring the incident of the binding of Isaac.
