WATCH: Learn to love failure
Starting with the simple question of “Why does failing make us feel so bad?”, this fascinating video, narrated by Rabbi Mark Wildes, taps into the heart of our inherent desire for success. Using the examples of Superman (the perfect specimen with real superpowers) and Batman (a mortal human who has to conquer his own demons), Rabbi Wildes explains how, fundamentally, we - like Batman - are sinners, creating an insecurity that drives our fear of failure. Judaism, however, does not believe that people are intrinsically failures or sinners. As Rabbi Wildes sums up at the end of the video, “When we fail, it doesn’t mean we’re failures” (4:31).
